Filling the Gaps
Sometimes
I get so sick of words
So much noise
Filling up the space
Like a wine glass
Let's let it be empty
For a while
And see what happens.
Let's see what arises
From the silence
What takes shape
From the void
Of nothingness.
Why do we fear
The darkness?
For without it
There would be no light;
We would not know
The sound of joy
The warmth of the sun
The renewed energy
That floods the body and soul
Upon awakening from sleep.
As the seasons change
Let us not resist
But surrender
To the elements
The wind, the rain,
The sun, the clouds;
To the frosty bite of cold
Sometimes leaving us
Aching right to our bones,
To whatever comes our way.
Let's not run from the discomfort
Disturb the stillness
Shatter the silence
Nor fill the gaps
Simply for the sake of it
And see what happens.
