Just as I am

Just as I am

You hear my cry
And pick out my voice
From amongst the noisy crowd
You notice my expression
The worry lines on my forehead
The fear in my eyes
When no one else
Sees beyond my forced smile.
You stand waiting
Ready with arms wide open
To wrap me up
In warmth and safety,
To catch me
If I slip or stagger,
To hold my hand
When I feel empty and alone.
You are my strength
When I feel I have nothing left,
You are my sanctuary
My peace
Replenishing my soul.
You treasure the windblown wild flower
I hold out to you
Even though your vase is already full
Of the most flawless rosebuds
I could imagine.
When I come to you
I am enough

Just the way I am.
